How to play E minor chord on Guitar?

E minor chord sometimes is referred to as the Em chord is a very easy beginner-level guitar chord. This is widely used in light music, rock, blues and a variety of other genres. You should be able to master this chord very quickly as it just involves 2 fingers and the finger placements are also relatively easy.

The E minor guitar chord consists of 3 notes – E, B and G notes. This guitar chord can be played in 2 simple steps.

2 Simple steps to play E minor chord

Step 1 : Put the 1st finger or index finger in 2nd fret of 5th string (A string)

Step 2 : Put the 2nd finger or middle finger in 2nd fret of 4th string (D string).

Strum all the six strings from the top to bottom in one stroke and that is the E minor chord.

Important points to remember while playing E minor Guitar chord

You will have to arch or bend your fingers so that you don’t touch the other things. In case you touch the other fingers, then you will mute those strings and the notes from the muted strings will not clear it will be a ‘buzzy’ sound.
