The root of the liquorice plant yields liquorice root, one of the oldest herbal treatments in the world.

Did You Know?

Liquorice root dates back to ancient Egyptian Pharaohs and extends throughout Asia and Europe!

Liquorice is used to relieve respiratory issues and reduce inflammation. It is made from the root of the liquorice plant. It kind of looks like a tiny tree trunk.

The outer layer tastes bitter and the softer part inside it tastes very sweet. Right from my childhood, I would keep inside my mouth like candy and chew it. You must remember not to swallow the leftover chunks.

Liquorice root usually helps clear congestion and provide a coat for the throat by increasing the creation of fresh mucus, which will soothe your throat and vocal cords.

What are the Drinks to Avoid for a Clear Voice?

Has your throat ever felt dry, scratchy, or irritated when you wake up?

This is a query I’m frequently asked. Why does my voice sound different than it did the day before?

This could be because of certain drinks and beverages that we take not knowing that it’s causing damage to our vocal cords and throat.

Coffee

Caffeine can constrict and irritate your throat in addition to drying it out. Caffeine-filled beverages would dry the body and put extra strain and friction on your voice chords. Caffeine-free tea is my advice for enhancing your voice.

Milk

Dairy products cause our tissues to secrete more mucus. The production of mucus by dairy products might affect the range and tone.

Citric juices

Acidic fruit juices cause mucus production, which can significantly alter the range and tone of your voice.

Ice cubes

Your voice chords and tone may be affected by cold drinks or temperatures.

Alcohol

Drinking alcohol dries out the throat, which can lead to tissue swelling and discomfort.
