Build Strong Fundamentals

For beginners, we focus on essential hand rudiments such as Single Strokes, Double Strokes and Paradiddles. These exercises help develop hand strength, control, speed and coordination, while addressing differences between the dominant and weaker hand. Once students gain confidence with the basic exercises, they progress to 4/4 grooves, developing better coordination between their hands and feet and building a strong rhythmic foundation.

Once the foundation is laid, you can explore everything from odd time signatures, double bass drum pedaling to advanced jazz drum lessons.

Our drum classes are conducted in small batches with a strong focus on individual student progress. Students also receive a free pair of drumsticks when they join the course.

Many students, particularly the young ones, initially get carried by the shear volume of sound that drums can produce. Unlike guitar and piano, Violin or flute, before taking the plunge on a full drum set, it is worth testing the waters due to two reasons - cost in buying the drums and the space the instrument can occupy in your home. Moreover initially it will be daunting as it involves playing with both hands and legs.

So students will have to go through the multiple stages. We will make it simple in 3 simple stages.

Stage 1: Practise Pads:

Drumming requires good coordination, and the best place to start is by learning how to hold the drumsticks correctly and playing on practise pad. Once you're comfortable with the proper grip, you can begin practicing the basic strokes and rudiments that form the foundation of drumming. (Gear: You just need practise pad and couple of drumsticks.)

Stage 2: Dummy Drum Kit

The skin on drum heads are expensive and if we play too hard and with bad drumsticks tips (due to wear and tear during the initial practise), there is a high chance that the skin may tear. To overcome this we will make the students practise on a dummy drum kit. This is basically a full drum kit including bass pedals, but the heads are with practise pads. This lets students to get a full experience of playing in a drum kit and also make mistakes. In this stage students get hands on experience as if they are playing a real drum kit.

Students understand about grips. There are basically two important grips; traditional, and matched grip. Traditional grip is where one hand, usually the left holds the stick inside the web between the thumb and index finger. Matched grip is where both hands hold the stick between the thumb and first joint of the index finger and have the palms facing down.

Stage 3: Playing on a Drum Kit (Acoustic or E- Kit)

In this stage students start playing in a real drum kit. This is the stage where you may want to buy the real drum kit. In this stage students learn about Rudiments. While there are many rudiments, there are 15 basic types, which the students will have to master:
